Into The Wild

went down the nile with a speedboat, that was fun... and saw some illegal schnaps-"distillery" original khartoum schnaps is made out of nile-water and unknown vegetables... interesting!

i camped on the nile sailing club for 3 days.... there were some nice sudanese people who showed me around...
went to the church on chrismas (no... not getting religious-just for the cultural experience!)
afer a while i got pretty bored and wanted to sneek out, so went to the exit.... right in that moment people started screaming and running into the church, saw some smoke....mhhh maybe not the best time to leave throught the front door, so i had to climb up a wall in the back to get out....
didnt really know what was goiing on but later people told me that the peoples liberation army attacked the church, because they dont want more christians in the city....

next day i got invited to dinner - fresh lamb- yummy! unfortunately i got ill that night later - puh i was really sick so i thought its maybe a better idea to change to a hotel and have a real nice bed... so i went to the only halfway effortable hotel where also women are allowed...
damn it sudan is f.. expensive, i have a big hole in my pocket now...
after 2 days i felt better... so yesterday i decided to leave sudan and went to ethopia....
its nice i like it... and they have beer..... yes...! thats a good thing after sudan... alcohol is allowed...
haha, saw some funny sudanese getting drunk behind the border....
people are nice laghing and dancing all the time....
but its weird not to speak the language... most people dont speak english or if they than its pretty bad.... they just use random sentences they heard somewhere and also answer the same way... communication not possible...
ah yeah and the reading... puh they use weird letters, looks like 3 year old wrote it...
but im not better... the only word i know in amhari is shintbeet (toilette) a important word, but out of routine i always speak arabic with them... random sentence- answer in arabic! must look funny....
staying in gondor (called the african camelot) at the moment they have a pretty nice castle here... i think im going to see it now...

after 30 hours on the ferry.... i arrived wadi halfa in sudan...
ferry was ok saved myself a place on the roof, near the capt. cabin where its not that crowed.... met some nice british archologists... tried to avoid drinking anything, going to the toilet would cause vomiting!
after arrivin in wadi halfa i took the next bus to khartoum with some other people, the british, some koreans and a fat afro-american (in his way very funny- visa office on the ferry ask him: where are from? his answer: slavery!.....)
mmhh ok! but most of the time he was on search for food... everytime the bus stopped, he woke up half a sleep asking:is there a restaurant? welcome to sudan, no more burgers for you!

khartoum is pretty caotic, maps are non existent! its very easy to get lost here, some streets have no names, or just various numbers... nobody knows the city... and the taxi driver...puhh worse than in egypt if that is possible!
people are incredibly nice here.. no more molesting and hassling from ugly egyptian dwarfs...
if you are lost, you will find yourself with at least 5 people who are walking with you untill you find what are you looking for....! everybody is greeting very friendly and dont stare at you, like you are either an alien or a piece of meat....
hello, welcome, how are you and what do think of my country? people wanne show you the real sudan and believe me nothing of that nonsence in the media is true....! i didnt saw much nikabs\burkas... youre not allowed to wear trousers as a women - so not true! people are very open minded here and treat you with respect!
and finally people appreciate that i can speak arabic! yes!

back in aswan, waiting for my ferry to sudan... and so fed up with egypt....
got my ferry ticket without any problems!
really surprising, beause this idiot in the alexandria trainstation, first tried to ignore me whle staring 5 min. at me, than pretended he woudlnt understand me and finally didnt want to sell me a ticket for the cheap normal train to aswan, beause im foreign and i have to take the expensive sleeping train.... so i had to call an egyptian friend who bought the ticket for me....

yeah but whatever... im happy everthng worked out in the end.. im staying in the same hotel as last time, wich is not bad at all, unfortunately ths time they thought its a good idea to wake me at ten in the morning to tell me i have to go to breakfast, after knocking 10 min. at my door... (and that after i didnt get much sleep in the train, because this tain-clerk had to check my ticket every 2 hours).. thank you!

later i decided to continue sleeping on the roof.... after an hour, the kitchen-guy came over to ask me why i didnt had breakfast, and to tell me how important breakfast is... ! intresting..
so after a while when i was really hungry, i went downstairs to get some food in a little shop around the corner...
while ordering a sandwich, the guy from the shop ignored my order, tried to hit on me and ask me if i were russian....
i thanked him very kindly for this "nice compliment" in my best arabic - a7a mednek - threw a falafel at him and decided that mcdonalds would be a better option...

now im enjoying the rest of my time on the roof trying to get tanned and not look russian... while drinking martini (dam it no alohol in sudan)...

ja ich weiß habs nicht geschafft zu schreiben,war zuviel los hier.....
puh wo fang ich an.... wir haben ne schöne wohnung gefunden, leider teurer als gedacht, aber da es in den meisten wohnungen besuchsverbot gibt und wir vermeiden wollten direkt neben einer moshee zu wohnen, haben wir uns für ne bessere gegend entschieden... die leute sind ganz nett hier und lassen einen mehr oder weniger in ruhe.... und es ist auch nich ganz so zugemüllt wie der rest der stadt....
ansonsten ist alex schon ganz schön ... viel grüner und nicht so laut und ranzig wie cairo, ich denke ich kann es hier bis dezember aushalten, auch wenn ich von den ägyptern nicht viel halte....
versuchen einen übern tisch zu ziehen wos nur geht...
da steht dann gerne mal jemand vor deiner haustür und will 40 pfund für die gasrechnung oder das putzen der fassaden..... nach genauerem hinsehen auf die rechnung stellt sich dann heraus, das es sich weder um das richtige gebäude noch um die richtige wohnung handelt.... aber man kanns ja mal versuchen....!

letzte woche hatte ich besuch von talya und überraschender weise auch von craig und melli....
das war ganz lustig... wir sind zusammen in die wüstenoase nach siwa an die lybische grenze gefahren (ich hatte ja ein paar tage frei), haben uns fahrräder ausgeliehen sind zu den quellen gefahren und haben sandboarding in der wüste gemacht.... war wirklich cool!

in alex haben wir auch schon nen tollen strand gefunden, an dem es sich ganz gut aushalten lässt, mcdonalds und drinkies liefert ja auch an den strand.....!
ausserdem dürfen wir hier auf unseren burkini verzichten und auch meine kalkleisten-farbige haut bekommt mal wieder ein bisl licht zusehen.....

naja aber jetzt ist das schöne leben erstmal wieder vorbei....
heute hatten wir unseren placement-test.... war ziemlich schwierig etwas zu verstehen, da hier komplett anderes vocabular verwendet wird, naja mal sehen morgen gibs die ergebnisse und dann werden wir mit den amis und engländern in kurse geteilt.... (drückt mir die daumen dass ich nicht mit den dumpfbackigen texanern in einen kurs komme)!
verständigung auf der strasse ist auch noch schwierig.... der ägyptische dialekt ist schon anders.... aber das wird mit der zeit....

So.. da hab ich es doch noch mal geschafft nen Blog zu erstellen....

Bin noch immer in Dahab.... habs bisher nicht geschafft mich loszulösen vom schönen Meer....
Außerdem habe ich hier meinen Tauchschein gemacht, trotz diverser Probleme mit meinem Ohr... Druckausgleich ist ne anstrengende Sache von Nasenbluten bis auf einem Ohr taub für nen Tag war alles dabei... und dann die ganzen Tests und Skills die man unter Wasser machen muss.... aber es lohnt sich, war gestern bis 17 Meter tief und habe unglaublich viele tolle bunte giftige Fische gesehen.....

Den restlichen Tag verbringe ich am Strand mit lesen - endlich mal wieder ein nicht Studium-relevantes Buch!
Ausserdem kann ich Saudi Arabien sehr gut von hier aus sehen... - habe vor 2 Tagen eine Sms von saudischen Netzanbieter bekommen:
Wenn sie jetzt einen Anruf tätigen, können Sie einen von 60 Diamanten gewinnen.... ahja!
Naja gut, das war bevor ich mein Handy verloren habe ( ja auch dieses Mal habe ich es geschafft mein Handy nicht länger als 6 Monate zu behalten - ganze 3 Wochen durfte es bei mir verweilen!)

Ansonsten ist es wirklich sehr ruhig und relaxt hier...
- an dieser Stelle noch einmal vielen Dank an Talya: dein Ehering wirkt Wunder... hat bis jetzt alle bärtigen Verehrer abgeschreckt!

Morgen gehts wieder auf nach Kairo... Uni fängt ja nächste Woche auch schon an!
